Meet the Team

Amy Abbey Robinson, CIMA® RMA®

Chief Executive Officer

The stock was a gift. The education? Hard-earned. When Amy received shares to fund her college tuition, she didn’t just sell—she studied. And what she learned changed the course of her life.

Navigating capital gains, timing of sales, commissions, and dividends gave her a firsthand look at the real-world complexities investors face. She saw the lasting impact of financial advice that ignores a client’s goals, especially on purchasing power and lifestyle.

Those early experiences sparked a passion: to educate and assist investors, especially women, in building thoughtful, long-term portfolios that align with their lives—not just the market.

Before joining Robinson Value Management to co-lead all aspects of the firm, Amy spent nearly a decade as an Account Vice President and Investment Management Consultant at PaineWebber/UBS. She also held both corporate and retail roles with H.E. Butt Grocery Company and worked as a Financial Analyst for Bankers Trust Company and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Amy holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) and Retirement Management Advisor (RMA®) designations and is a member of the Investments & Wealth Institute. She earned both her MBA through the Option II Executive Program and her BA in the Plan II Honors Program from the University of Texas at Austin. Amy currently serves on the Advisory Council of the University of Texas, College of Liberal Arts. She is also active in the Battle of Flowers Association®, the Battle of Flowers Foundation®, and the Laurel Heights Garden Club.

Outside of the office, Amy enjoys swimming and going on hikes with their sweet dog, Radar.

Charles W. Robinson III, CFA

Chief Investment Officer & Chief Complance Officer

When Charles was 15, his father handed him the reins to a stock portfolio—and told him he was now financially on his own. Though he managed it well, Charles had no plans to pursue investing professionally. He dreamed of becoming a doctor, like his dad.

That changed thanks to an influential economics professor. His curiosity sparked, Charles got a front-row seat to capital markets in action at San Antonio’s Union Stock Yards. He traded futures at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, structured oil & gas partnerships, and even sold cutlery door-to-door after the 1987 crash. Charles has worked in mutual fund administration, banking, venture capital, and teaching MBA students.

He joined Leavy Investment Management and NationsBank before founding the predecessor to Robinson Value Management, Robinson Investment Management. With 30+ years of experience, he now co-leads all aspects of the firm—from portfolio management and security analysis to compliance and IT systems.

Charles holds an MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a BA in Economics from Davidson College. A CFA charterholder, he is a member of the CFA Institute and a past president of the San Antonio Society of Financial Analysts. Charles is active in the community, serving as an elder at First Presbyterian Church. He’s also a member of the Order of the Alamo and the Merry Knights of King William.

When he’s not working, you’ll likely find him hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors.

"Try not to become a man of success.
Rather become a man of value."
